During the E3 2019 exhibition, the details of the new Project Scarlett console were revealed.
According to Phil Spencer, head of the gaming division of Microsoft, the console provides better performance than the powerful Xbox One X. This breakthrough was achieved through a partnership with the manufacturer of graphics processors AMD. The latter supplies Navi-based Zen 2 processors for the product. Zen 2 will be an incredible step in improving processor performance, which is the limiting factor for Xbox One X.
The frame rate for Project Scarlett is 120 FPS, and the update rate and support for up to 8K. Phil claims that the new product will be four times as powerful as the Xbox One X.
Microsoft will also equip the Xbox Project Scarlett for the first time with an internal hard drive that will help reduce download time in games – the main drawback of many consoles.
It is noted that the upcoming new product will be compatible with the catalog of existing games. The presentation of the finished product is scheduled for 2020.
