Waymo Together with Renault and Nissan will Launch Self-Driving Taxi Service in France and Japan

The manufacturer of technology for self-driving vehicles Waymo unites with Renault and Nissan in order to provide robotaxi services in France and Japan.

The partnership, announced on June 19, underlines Waymo’s commitment to globally popularize its technology and make a revolution in how people move.

After launching the service in France and Japan, Waymo intends to explore other European and Asian markets.

“This is an ideal opportunity for Waymo to bring our autonomous technology to a global stage, with an innovative partner,” said Waymo CEO John Krafcik.

Companies have not yet decided on the date of launch of the service.

It is likely that it will take several more years before Waymo can become a serious competitor to Uber. Despite the fact that Waymo self-management technology is considered to be advanced in the world, it is still not sufficiently tested to be trusted.
