Ubisoft is a large company that develops computer games, is exploring the possibility of integrating Ethereum blockchain into its developments. This is reported by the local publication Les Echos.
The Ubisoft team intends to create a system that allows users to buy game goods using the blockchain and cryptocurrency.
The publication writes:
“The idea is to give a digital existence on the blockchain to the ‘items’ (accessories) available in video games; content that publishers monetize. Ubisoft is considering working on the blockchain Ethereum, which allows to operate this kind of operation.”
The first steps in exploring the blockchain technology were made by the company at the end of 2018. Even then, Ubisoft organized its first blockchain-hackathon called Blockchain Heroes, and the Strategic Innovation Lab of Ubisoft created a prototype of the blockchain-based game HashCraft.
Although it is not yet known whether blockchains such as Ethereum will be able to cope with a large base of active users in the near future, the developer community is doing everything possible to increase the scaling and bandwidth of networks.
