In a patent application released May 21, 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment described a new VR glove that can realistically convey any sensations. Gloves with haptic feedback create another dimension in which gamers will be able to feel every “touch” during a game session.
For example, in a sword fight with a pirate, in contact with the enemy, the glove will rumble and shake. The owner will be able to feel the weight of the weapon, as well as the sharpness of the metal. Thanks to the synchronized sensations, the fight will be getting more realistic.
According to the patent description, dynamic gloves are capable of transmitting sensations of touch and movement to virtual objects at a subconscious level thanks to the main VR headset (helmet).
Sony also plans to integrate the haptic device into other clothes: a hat, footwear, pants, or a shirt.
The new development will allow gamers to become an integral part of realistic events that will occur during game sessions.
