British Airways Tests VR Entertainment for First-Class Passengers
Employees of British Airways want to use VR entertainment to distract passengers from the thought that they are flying at a speed of 800 km/h at an altitude of 10,000 meters above ground. As part of the new program, the British airline announced that it will offer SkyLights VR headsets for some select first-class passengers between London Heathrow and New York JFK airports. The new entertainment program includes 2D, 3D and 360-degree content (feature films and documentaries, TV shows, meditations, etc.) SkyLights is very similar to ordinary glasses, as it is much lighter than other popular headsets (weighing only 250 g). It is worth noting that British Airways are not pioneers in providing VR content for their passengers, in the past such services as Qantas and Alaska Airlines have already offered similar services.
