According to CNBC, the major coffee company Starbucks has recently been working on incorporating digital currencies into its payment system. It is cooperating with such giants as Microsoft and Intercontinental Exchange to create a special platform Bakkt. The purpose of this platform is storing and converting cryptocurrency.
Bakkt will be a so-called intermediary between customers and the abovementioned companies. For example, if a person want to pay for his/her ice latte in BTC, the platform will automatically convert digital currencies into fiat. Bakkt is planned to be launched some time in November of 2018.
Nevertheless, later on the representatives of Starbucks stated that the mass media are being too hasty, and Bitcoin will not be accepted as a means of payment any time soon, since it’s a long-term development. .
