UK Olympic Team Launches NFT
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the UK team became the first to launch NFT tokens for fans.
In partnership with Tokns, a leading NFT business provider, the UK team launched the NFT store. In the store, the GB team will display all the highlights, photos and videos from the Tokyo Olympics.
Team UK Sales Director Tim Ellerton said:
“We are very happy to be working with Token to host a very different game for our Olympic athletes in Tokyo. Especially after we announced that there will be no fans at the Olympics, we are thrilled to be able to provide digital moments for fans and collectors alike ... "
NFTs for the UK Olympic Team will be 1: 1 (i.e. unique and have a fixed price) and can be purchased with digital or traditional currency.
Max Whitlock did not stand aside and launches his NFT
Famed gymnast Max Whitlock, British Team Legend, also announced the launch of his NFT in the UK Team NFT Store format. Having said that, the NFT edition will include two gold medals he won at the Rio Olympics and another gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics that he is confidently counting on.
“I am very happy to launch my first NFT and work with the UK team in this exciting new field. Let the fans celebrate with the athletes and teams for those special moments. ”
The current agreement between the UK Olympic team and Tokns, which began at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, will last until the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. The NFT Series will also celebrate 125 years of British athletes' participation in historic Olympic events.
This year in the cryptocurrency market, sports NFTs have gained particular popularity. Some sports NFTs have been sold for up to a million dollars at various auctions. A striking example of this - the exclusive NFT series of the iconic boxer "Lineal by Tyson Fury", sold for almost $ 1,000,000, became one of the most expensive NFTs sold in recent years.
Many famous athletes in the past and present, such as Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Tom Brady, also did not stand aside and took part in various NFT projects .
