The U.S. Department of Commerce Said Huawei is Still Blacklisted
Despite Trump's statement, a high-ranking US official, John Sonderman told law enforcement officials of the Department of Commerce that the Chinese company Huawei is still on the blacklist. Recall that in May 2019, Huawei was blacklisted, which prohibited American companies to sell its products. Being at the G20 summit, Donald Trump promised Chinese President Xi Jinping to allow US companies to sell Huawei Technologies Co Ltd products. Trump's statement on Saturday, June 29 was to revive trade negotiations between the PRC and the United States. On July 1, senior official John Sonderman sent an e-mail to law enforcement officers in which he tried to clarify how agents should approach licensing requests from firms that want permission to sell Huawei products.
All such applications should be considered on merit and flagged with language noting that “This party is on the Entity List. Evaluate the associated license review policy under part 744,” he wrote, citing regulations that include the Entity List and the “presumption of denial” licensing policy that is applied to blacklisted companies.Note that this letter was the only guide that the pro-law enforcement officers received after Trump’s unexpected announcement. It is not clear yet when the Commerce Department will provide additional guidance to its employees. We want to remind: https://thecoinshark.net/microsoft-store-is-selling-huawei-products-again/
