The FBI Arrested Scammers Who Robbed Apple of $6 Million
The US Federal Court convicted a criminal group from China, the official website of the US Department of Justice reports. Attackers created a complex scheme in which they exchanged non-original iPhones in the company's service centers for real ones. Based on the case materials, their activities caused damage to Apple in the amount of 6.1 million US dollars. FBI agents have already searched the apartment of fraudsters and seized $250 thousand cash and 90 iPhones of different models. They worked by the following scheme: initially, they delivered fake smartphones to the USA, then exchanged them for original Apple products at service centers. Criminals took real smartphones back to their homeland for sale. The Justice Ministry informed the criminal group consisted of 14 people, they face a prison term of about 20 years.
