Representatives of the Dutch main financial regulator announced their readiness to lead the development of a digital euro throughout the EU.

Central Bank said that the Facebook Libra project was the catalyst that speeded up the development of this area.
In a published report, Central Bank staff also noted a decrease in cache usage by more than 30%, against the background of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Many stores now ask customers not to pay in cash,” the report says.

They believe, the quarantine will significantly speed up the spread of online payments and make issues of national digital currencies more relevant.
