Coinbase wallet will support the Solana blockchain
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has added support for Solana tokens such as SOL, as well as other tokens supported by this blockchain. However, it is not yet possible to interact with applications and NFTs on Solana.
The Coinbase Wallet currently only supports the Solana network in browser resolution. Support for the mobile wallet, according to company representatives, will appear a little later. The timing of when this will happen is not known.
The complexity of the interaction between Coinbase Wallet and Solana lies in the fact that for the first time support for a network will be added to the wallet, the operation of which is not based on the EVM - the virtual machine of the Ethereum blockchain.
If everything goes well, this wallet will be able to compete with the most popular wallet - MetaMask, and will also push the position of the leading Solana-based wallet - Phantom.
Regarding the lack of support for NFTs and Dapps, a Coinbase representative noted that the crypto exchange is working in this direction. As soon as technically possible, support for non-fungible tokens and applications will be added so that you can quickly and conveniently get full access to all the features of the Solana ecosystem.
Recall that in addition to the recently added network, Coinbase Wallet supports blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain and Avalanche. This wallet has more than 13 million users worldwide.
