Regulation negatively affects the expansion of the network of cryptomats

According to the analytics service Coin ATM Radar, the number of new cryptomats has decreased to the level of 2019. According to analysts, this is due to the over-regulation of the cryptosphere.

The Coin ATM Radar report says that only 252 new ATMs appeared in the month of April. This is a very low figure, since in January 2022 the number of new crypto ATMs reached 1687. In February, the figure was 757, and in March - 739.

The highest rate of monthly appearance of ATMs was recorded in August 2021. This month, 2037 new terminals appeared on the world map of cryptomats. This was largely due to the active adoption of cryptocurrencies by many countries.

In 2022, the situation has changed dramatically. This is due to the tightening of regulation in the country. The situation became especially critical in March this year. For example, in the UK, the FCA regulator issued a ban on the operation of cryptomats in the country.

At the end of April, increased regulation was noted in Belgium. As we wrote earlier, the country is forcing all local cryptocurrency service providers to register with the FSMA.

In general, the situation with cryptomats on the market is as follows:

  • USA - 32,973.
  • Canada - 2443.
  • Spain - 229.
  • El Salvador - 204.

One of the latest cryptomats was the terminal installed in the building of the Mexican Senate. Thanks to this, the number of cryptomats in North America has reached 13 pieces.
