Binance stellt US-Beamten ein, um Geldwäsche zu bekämpfen
The largest crypto exchange Binance has chosen Greg Monahan, a previous US administration employee, to task him with combating currency laundering.
Greg Monahan is a valuable asset to Binance, at least because he has over 30 years of civil duty activity as a criminal inspector for the US Treasury Department. He will lead the digital currency exchange's global money-laundering reports and strengthen its relationship with regulators and law enforcement agencies around the world, ensuring compliance with governing requirements.
Monahan's last place of work was Deloitte, where, based on information on LinkedIn, he worked for just under six months in a compliance role. Monahan's predecessor, Karen Leong, who has worked with money laundering reporting at Binance from 2018, will now become Chief Compliance Officer.
The hiring of new employees has recently been taking place against the backdrop of constant complaints from financial regulators against the exchange and their close attention to the company's work in various jurisdictions. Earlier, the exchange hired the previous FATF secretary Rick MocDonell, and the ex-head of the Canadian side in the FATF Josee Nadeau as regulative advisors, and Senator Max Baucus joined the exchange team as an adviser on political problems and relationships with worldwide departments.
The CEO of Binance announced that in the future, they will take a closer look at other representatives of government agencies, as they highly value their experience. In addition, the company is seriously determined to strictly follow all regulatory and legal aspects in the countries where it does business, trying to avoid potential conflicts with local and international agencies.
