Opera Is to Protect Users from Miners 233

Developers of Opera browser showed a beta version of a new browser extension NoCoin that has an embedded anti-mining mode to protect users from hidden miners.

“With a running NoCoin, all pages with embedded mining scripts will be blocked just like existing add-blocks do”, – told representatives of the company that owns this popular browser.

Opera developers said that they wanted to fight the increasing growth of a program called Coinhive and similar programs so they decided to create their anti-mining solution. Coinhive is based on JavaScript and allows to use computing power of users` PCs via browser to mine a popular cryptocurrency called Monero.

Coinhive is the first but not the only one service, and there are plenty of such programs appearing everyday.

Meanwhile, Google engineers a working hard to introduce an efficient mining protection in their Chrome browser.
