Musk Officially Showed Cybertruck: All About the New Armor-Piercing Rover from Tesla
So, on the night of November 21st to 22nd, Elon Musk showed the audience perhaps the most anticipated car in the history of Tesla - the new Cybertruck pickup. The new truck received a controversial design: someone like it very much, someone considers it terrible. But to each his own, so let us leave this question open. The body of the new car is made of a special heavy-duty solid piece of metal, 3 mm thick. There are no traces left on it even after two hammer hits, while the door of an ordinary pickup truck did not pass such a test. It is noteworthy that during the demonstration of “armored” glass on the scene, everything went wrong and it crashed. But what happened is likely to benefit the final product, since, after that, the company's specialists will make every effort to fix this vulnerability. After this, Musk wrote on Twitter that hammer blows formed microcracks in the glass, caused the incident. But let`s not focus on this, we do not want to do Internet trolls work. Next, let's talk about the specifications. So, there are three versions, which differ in range, power, and acceleration dynamics.
  • The initial version for $39,900 will be equipped with just one engine, its range will be 400 km, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h - 6.8 seconds.
  • The average version for $49,900 will have two engines, its cruising range will be about 480 km, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h - 4.8 seconds.
  • The top version will cost $69,900, will be equipped with three engines, it will be able to drive about 800 km on a single charge, and acceleration to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
A full-fledged autopilot will cost an additional $7,000. You can pre-order new trucks on the official Tesla website, making a deposit of only $100. The initial and middle version will begin to be produced at the end of 2021, and the maximum at the end of 2022, but knowing the Mask, you can shift the deadline by a year. As of press time, Tesla has received over 200,000 pre-orders for Cybertruck. Also, they showed an electric quadricycle that fits into the back of a pickup truck, but absolutely nothing is known about it yet.
