Canadian Securities Commission (OSC) accuses crypto exchange Poloniex of illegal trading of derivatives and unregistered securities
In March, the OSC regulator ordered all companies operating with digital currencies in Canada to obtain permission to operate. To do this, it was necessary to register as an investment dealer.
Representatives of the crypto-exchange were ordered to contact the officials of the regulator in the period up to 19.04.2021. This had to be done to avoid responsibility.
During this period, only 70 cryptocurrency platforms were contacted by OSC, but Poloniex representatives were not included in this number. That's why the lawsuit was filed.
The first hearing in the lawsuit will be held on June 18. The exchange faces several large administrative fines and may be banned from operating in Canada.
