German law enforcement officers admit to being attacked twice by a hacker who emptied an arrested Bitcoin wallet for 36 million euros
Police in the Rhineland-Palatinate region carried out a raid against the drug trade on the Internet in 2016. The servants of the law managed to disrupt the work of one of the sites Chemical Love.
The main suspect was also arrested. He was tried and found guilty. The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and a fine of 1.5 million euros.
During the investigation, police confiscated a bitcoin wallet with 757 BTC. However, all attempts to bring it under control were unsuccessful. But it was managed by an unidentified hacker.
The attacker hacked the system twice. First, 265 BTC were withdrawn on 01.03.2017. The remaining 489 bitcoins were stolen at the end of 2019.
Police admitted recently that they have no idea where the money went or how it was managed to get the attacker out. Twice. Details of the case are not reported. An investigation is underway.
