If it seems to you that paying $836,925 for a picture with a painted stone is some kind of madness, then you better sit down. After all, the NFT of the EtherRock project was purchased at this price today!
With the arrival of non-fungible tokens, the number of impulse purchases in the cryptocurrency industry began to grow at an even faster pace. One of these for someone was the image with a stone. The cost of the cheapest token from the EtherRock collection has grown by an insane 900% in a couple of weeks. Yesterday the cheapest of the presented stones cost $305,000, while a week ago one stone was sold for $100,000.
Many of you have probably decided that this is another "hype" project, created "on the knee" just yesterday. However, EtherRock's NFT collections were created back in 2017, which makes them one of the “oldest” non-fungible tokens. All images for the project were taken from the free clip art database and were inspired by the popular toy of the 1970s called Pet Rock.
All 100 stones sold in the collection look almost identical, except that they are made in different colors. For example, EtherRock 55, which sold for $409,000 yesterday, is colored blue, like the other three stones in the NFT collection.
TRON CEO Justin Sun is known for his expressive purchases with cryptocurrencies. Therefore, he could not ignore the EtherRock project by buying one of the stones for $580,000. It's funny that he was ahead of him in publishing this fact by a bot that automatically reports when someone has purchased an NFT from the EtherRock collection. Sun himself wrote about it only two hours later.
Many NFT experts agree that the EtherRock acquisition is nothing more than a way to flex, which makes them so desirable in the crazy era of the non-fungible token boom. Even on the project's website, the fact is indicated that the stones do not serve any purpose other than buying and selling and realizing oneself as the owner of one of the hundreds of NFT stones created.
Earlier in the spring, the developer who created EtherRock announced the launch of another NFT Sprites project, which combined several techno trends at once deepfakes and blockchain. 100 created avatars were generated by artificial intelligence, and the cost of the cheapest one is now 1.9 ETH, equivalent to $6342 at Huobi.
Are you sure you're still not ready to purchase one of these unique stones?
