From now on citizens and visitors of a South-China city Shenzhen can pay for public transport, train, and taxi using an app that works on blockchain technology.
Such a decision was made by the local authorities and was immediately supported by such giants as Guangdian Express, Tencent, Gaoguang Technology, MTR Shenzhen Group и Shenzhen Metro Group.
An innovative platform has been already successfully working at the biggest metro station in the city – Futian. The platform will allow passengers to pay for their digital tickets at the end of each trip. All payments will be recorded on a distributed accounting database.
This new platform is implemented in the main PRC application – WeChat. It should be noted that this messenger is quite tightly integrated into the daily life of the Chinese, that is why there is no doubt that this innovation will be very popular among the locals. Shenzhen is obviously the most technologically developed city in China. Its population is about 20 millions of people. The new platform is designed for 170,000 passengers to use it every day.
