IBM Closed The Biggest Deal Ever

Now it is officially known that IBM has completed a deal to acquire Red Hat for a total of $34 billion. Note that this was the most expensive acquisition in the technology sector of all time. This has been rumored for quite some time, back in 2018, but now it was officially announced.

IBM announced that they were going to acquire a Linux developer in October 2018. The US Department of Justice gave its approval for this deal in May 2019, and the final stage was EU approval at the end of June.

IBM representatives say that Red Hat will not change the management, led by CEO Jim Whitehurst. It is worth noting that Whitehurst is now included in the top management of IBM and reports only to the CEO of the IT giant, Ginni Rometty.
