The founder of Telegram Pavel Durov reported on attracting $850 million from 81 investors for the development of the messenger and the TON (Telegram Open Network) blockchain platform, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reports. According to Vedomosti, the billionaire Roman Abramovich is among the investors.
“Agreements on the purchase of cryptocurrency” are stated in the commission’s document in the column “type of placed securities” the newspaper notes. At the same time, the names of investors are not named in the statements.
According to the two interlocutors of the newspaper, Abramovich is one of the first Russians who got the right to invest in Telegram Group Inc. and TON Issuer Inc., managed by Pavel and Nikolai Durov. Another well-informed source noted that Abramovich could have invested 300 million dollars into the development of the messenger.
The representative of the company managing assets of Roman Abramovich, Millhouse, John Mann refused to comment on the information. Pavel Durov also did not answer the newspaper’s questions.
