Hackers in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Used Computer Virus to Mine Cryptocurrency

AlienVault company, professionals in cybersecurity, detected a program that installed Monero cryptocurrency mining app on computers and laptops. 

It is said on the company’s blog that cryptocurrency mined that way was sent to the server in Kim il-Sung University located in Pyongyang. The app was launched on December 24th, 2017.

Currently the address is unavailable which probably means that the app stopped working. However, experts think that since the server located in North Korea was only a part of hackers’ network, it would hardly be possible to  identify further transactions.
