La plus grande chaîne de films de Thaïlande commence à vendre des billets contre des bitcoins
Major Cineplex Group, one of the major Thai film chains, announced its readiness to provide customers with the opportunity to use Bitcoins as a means to purchase tickets.
As we learned, on March 4, the cinema network launched a pilot project for the sale of tickets for cryptocurrency in order to warm up users' interest in this service and the development of new technologies in the country.
To this end, Major Cineplex partnered with the Thai crypto exchange Zipmex and the RapidZ startup, which created a decentralised payment system. So far, the debut of the new feature took place only in Bangkok, where you can now purchase a ticket by scanning a QR code using the RapidZ app. In the future, Cineplex intends to expand this feature to 39 more cinemas in the chain.
The Major Cineplex initiative, according to a company representative, is aimed primarily at attracting a larger flow of customers who appreciated the convenience of payments in the equivalent of cryptocurrencies.
It is estimated that today there are about 1 million Bitcoin investors in Thailand, which is equal to 2% of the country's adult residents. All of this is a demand that needs to be met.
We hope that such examples will inspire other cinemas around the world to introduce payment for services with cryptocurrencies.
