Ethereum To Launch Kiln Testnet Before Switching To PoS
The public testnet will be launched on the Ethereum blockchain next week. The developers claim that this will be the last test before switching to the PoS mining algorithm.
According to one of the representatives of the Ethereum Foundation, the launch of the test network will take place if all the necessary software, tools and documentation can be prepared. At the same time, Kiln will be launched with all the necessary v2 specifications.
Thanks to this, users will be able to check the stability of the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain. And developers will be able to verify the reliability of the developed software.
Kiln will operate for about 3 months, so the Ethereum Foundation expects to migrate the blockchain to Ethereum 2.0 this summer. Miners will stop mining ETH and only stakers will add blocks to the blockchain. This will make the operation of all applications and the blockchain itself as environmentally friendly as possible.
Also, the annual inflation of the Ethereum cryptocurrency will be reduced from 4% to the projected 1%. This will positively affect the value of ETH coins, making them more expensive and more attractive for investment. With this in mind, experts call Ethereum 2.0 the biggest network upgrade since 2015.
