Michael Morell de la CIA: la oportunidad de financiamiento del terrorismo de Bitcoin sobrevalorada

Michael Morell, a former CIA director from 2011 to 2013, recently revealed that he was thinking about crypto and their role in financing terrorism and money laundering

According to him, Bitcoin is not completely anonymous. His agency, like many others in the U.S., analyses transactions in the network. This helps to gather important data to fight crime.

They are assisted by projects such as Chainalysis, CipherTrace and Elliptic. They collect statistics by extracting BTC transaction data. It uses advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.

Morell recently caught the eye of Chainalysis's report on illegal financial transactions with Bitcoin. It turned out that only 1 percent of transactions in the Bitcoin blockchain were used for illegal payment. This figure is lower than that of traditional finances, which account for 2-4% of world GDP.

Morell said he did not expect such conclusions. He thought that the concern that world leaders expressed about BTC and crypto has more good grounds.

In this regard, the former CIA director said that the U.S. is better off focusing on the development of blockchain technologies, rather than worry about the negative aspects of crypto.

It is important to maintain technological synchronisation with major countries, including China. Develop new technologies so as not to regret lost time.
