Bitpanda Pro contrata al ex director de JPMorgan, Joshua Barraclough
Cryptocurrency broker Bitpanda Pro hired ex-JPMorgan CEO Joshua Barraclough to offer him the role of CEO of the trading platform. This was reported by the representatives of the exchange themselves.
Joshua Barraclough was previously co-head of digital innovation at JPMorgan London, tried with advancing innovative products and services for the firm that can transform the traditional financial structure. Based on such merits, it is not surprising why he was interested in a new asset class and Austria's first techno-unicorn, Bitpanda.
In his interview, Barraclough also emphasized that his move from traditional banking products to cryptocurrencies “was obvious”. He also noted that as digital currency becomes a significant part of the modern financial market, retail and institutional investors increasingly need convenient instruments that allow them to use common investment strategies using trading nuances that are unique to digital currencies.
Barraclough called the "crypto arena" difficult, noting the intense struggle of many companies to take leadership positions in an emerging industry. The problem, in his opinion, is that the representatives of many of them do not have the necessary experience to become at the helm of the cryptocurrency industry.
Earlier this summer, Bitpanda raised 263M in a Series C funding round led by PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures. Among the main investors of the Austrian broker is also the hedge fund of billionaire Alan Howard.
Today, the Bitpanda team employs over 600 professionals in eight technology centers around the world, including London, Vienna, Paris, and Berlin.
