El exchange chino Hotbit paralizado tras un ciberataque

A crypto-exchange suffered serious damage after the hacker attack at 20:00 UTC on Friday. Some of its critical services were shut down and management had to temporarily close access to the site

The hacker also reportedly tried to hack Hotbit's wallet, but it failed. Hacking was prevented by an internal protection mechanism.

Without receiving the money, the hacker deleted the user base. Although the exchange regularly has a backup of data, management is not sure that the hacker did not use malicious software to infect the entire system.

An investigation is underway and all services will be suspended. The exchange will not operate for 7-14 days within which the software will also be updated to ensure the highest possible level of security.

The exchange will be liable for losses of users who invested in ETFs with leverage. The management also canceled all open orders.

Commenting on what is happening, the representative of the exchange noted that the assets (fiat and cryptocurrencies) are protected. The 2FA authentication system works.

However, the hacker was able to copy the user data, and at any time can reveal them. It can also send users false emails from the team so, you have to be careful.
