Technology startups strive to make all the surrounding objects smart around us. Smartphones, smartwatches, smart cars, smart homes and other IoT devices (the Internet of things) are gradually changing people’s way of life. One of Xiaomi’s recent patent applications concerns an intelligent device, namely, a smart scarf.
Scarves are usually used in winter or in cold weather. Users tightly fix the scarf around the neck in cold weather and then loosen it when it gets hotter. Xiaomi’s smart scarf should remove the need to manually change it on the neck. Smart Scarf automatically adapts and heats up according to changes in ambient temperature.
The patent application that has been noticed is called “Smart Scarf and its Control Method” with application number 201010365323.8. The accessory consists of the scarf itself, a temperature sensor and an infrared heater contained in the fabric. Outwardly, it is no different from a traditional scarf. In addition, the sketch shows that the scarf has an elastic control unit, which is connected to a temperature sensor. The scarf automatically loosens or tightens depending on the ambient temperature.
Xiaomi Smart Scarf can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and then using a special mobile application you can control parameters such as heating and neck density. Let’s just hope that the use of such a device will not pose a threat to the owner of the accessory.
