Maxine Waters, a chairperson of The United States House of Representatives, has published an official statement saying the US delegation has met with Swiss regulators and lawmakers to discuss the Libra project.
American congressmen discussed issues related to the cryptocurrency initiative from Facebook, with State Secretariat for International Financial Matters, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, as well as the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority.
As previously reported, the purpose of the delegation’s visit was to exchange views on the Libra project and related regulatory issues. Following the meeting, Maxine Waters said that she still had doubts about the fact that such a large company like Facebook could create a controlled global altcoin.
In addition, she added that the US Congress will continue to study issues related to Libra, including combating money laundering.
