Unsold Amazon Products will be Donated to Charity

Today Amazon introduced a new program, according to which all unsold products from third-party sellers will go to charity instead of going to a rubbish dump. This innovation will work in the United States and the United Kingdom.

According to a new program called Fulfilled by Amazon Donations, hundreds of thousands of products that third-party vendors were unable to sell will go to US and UK nonprofits such as Barnardo’s, Newlife, and Salvation Army. Amazon previously destroyed goods left in its warehouses that sellers could not sell. Often, goods remain in warehouses because they were returned or certain consignment contained some defects.

“We know getting products into the hands of those who need them transforms lives and strengthens local communities,” – Alice Shobe, the director of the company’s charitable giving arm called Amazon in the Community, said in a statement. – “We are delighted to extend this program to sellers who use our fulfillment services.”

The program will enter into force on September 1, 2019. This will be the default option for Marketplace sellers who choose to let Amazon store and distribute their products.
