The rumors about one of the largest deals in the crypto industry have been confirmed: the Tron Foundation bought BitTorrent. The founder of the blockchain platform Tron, Justin Sun, said this in his Twitter:
Proud to announce @BitTorrent and @uTorrent are now part of the #TRON family. BitTorrent is supported by over 100M active users. Together we are building the future of the decentralized Internet! Stay tuned for updates #TRONBT $TRX @Tronfoundation https://t.co/mQQqUeOaHv pic.twitter.com/eSYY4lWsXI

The amount of the transaction is still not disclosed. According to unofficial information, it is worth about $140 million in fiat currency.
According to the media, the Tron Foundation will continue to develop the BitTorrent protocol, as this tool can become the “world’s largest decentralized ecosystem”, which Tron is striving to create. Both units will join their teams, and BitTorrent will move to Tron’s office in San Francisco. It is possible that this merger is a part of larger plan to use the recently launched Tron network.
The Tron (TRX) cryptocurrency is ranked 11th in the market capitalization rating CoinMarketCap with an estimate of $ 2.4 billion.
