The Biggest Outage in Facebook and Instagram History

There is still no official statement from the company representatives about what caused the outage of the most popular social networks in the world.

Recall, on Wednesday, March 13, users around the world had difficulty accessing the social network of Mark Zuckerberg. It is reported that this bug also affected the work of Facebook messenger and WhatsApp mobile app.

It is worth noting that this is a historic moment since yesterday’s outage is the most severe for the entire existence of the social network. A similar case last occurred on Facebook 11 years ago, but at that time the social network had only 150 million users, whereas now this figure comprises about 2.3 billion people.

Representatives of the company reported that its specialists are working hard to resolve and figure out the causes of this problem. It is worth noting that the main Facebook page was available for viewing, but many users had problems with the publication of new posts. In Instagram, there were problems with updating the feed and adding new photos. Problems were also detected in the Workplace app, the service used by businesses to communicate internally.

According to the BBC, glitches with the above-mentioned services occurred at a time when politicians of the United States and many other states discuss the necessity to divide such large companies into several components. They argue that Facebook, Google, and other IT giants have enormous influence.
