The Coin Shark has already reported earlier that Twitter was planning to ban advertisements of cryptocurrency on its service following Facebook and Google. Today this information was officially confirmed:
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of the Twitter community. As such, we have added a new policy for Twitter Ads relating to cryptocurrency,” a Twitter spokesperson told CNBC Monday. “Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally,” – the press secretary of Twitter told CNBC.
The representative of the company also said that this step is aimed at “ensuring the safety of the Twitter community.”
All ads related to ICO, token sales, cryptocurrency wallets, with the exception of public companies present at the main stock markets, will be removed from the site starting from Tuesday.
