New Experimental Features Have Been Added to Google Books, And You Can Test Them Right Now

Now you can join the testing of experimental functions of Google Books, which will allow you to try new functions while they are still under development and have not yet received wide distribution. You can choose new features by going to play.google.com/books and clicking the settings button in the upper right corner of the screen. In the Beta Features menu, you can turn on any features that Google is currently testing publicly.

At the moment there are several functions that you can select.

  • Custom Shelves allow organizing your books into shelves with specific tags.
  • “Search/Sort” adds a new interface option that allows to either search in your books or to sort them by author, title, price.

You can turn each of these experimental features individually. Google warns that any of these features may not be widely spread since it all depends on the feedback that the team receives from users who participate in the testing.
