There is still a whole year before the next-generation iPhone, but the 2020 year`s phones are already rumored. The latest news was received from reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who states that next year the phones will have a completely new design, for the first time since the capital redesign of the iPhone X in 2017.
According to Kuo, in the iPhone 2020 line will have three main changes:
- new form factor design;
- 5G support;
- camera update.
It is worth noting that some of them, such as 5G support, were known, as this is a very logical step, given that 2020 will be the year of the large-scale launch of this technology in the developed countries of the world. And as for the camera, the Apple update it literally in every new generation of iPhone.
But the new design will be a significant change. Note that earlier Apple had a two-year cycle of design changes (3G/3GS, 4/4s, 5/5s), but then Apple switched to a three-year cycle, since the design of the iPhone 6 was relevant for three years, until the release of the frameless iPhone X.
Details about redesign: thinner frames, smaller “Face ID monobrow”, although Kuo’s earlier report told that Apple will change the screen sizes for its two flagship OLED phones, down to a 5.4-inch panel (compared to 5,8-inch iPhone XS) on a smaller device, and up to a 6.7-inch screen on a larger one (compared to the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max).
Earlier this week another Bloomberg post mentioned that Apple will also be introducing fingerprint technology for display on the iPhone 2020, where this feature will work along with the current Face ID scanning for an additional level of protection.
