Google has set a new minimum wage for its employees who don’t have a formal contract with the company – $15 per hour. Relevant instructions were sent to all recruiting agencies with which Google cooperates.
The company claimed that they will also provide both employees who have the contract and temporary workforce:
- health care;
- 3 months paid parental leave;
- $5,000 per year of tuition reimbursement.
They decided to change their fiscal policy after an incident when more than 900 temporary employees signed a petition in which they demanded equal rights for all Google employees.
The company said that a new minimum wage takes effect from the first quarter of 2020, and other changes – from the first quarter of 2022.
It is known that more than 122 thousand employees are working without a formal contract. It should be noted that it totals almost 54% of the total number of employees of the corporation.
