We would like to remind you that back in March Google announced that advertisements concerning upcoming ICOs, digital wallets, cryptocurrency exchanges, rates of digital coins and other types of news connected with cryptocurrencies will be banned from the platform by June. The ban will mostly concern speculative or suspicious startups and projects.
At the time of writing of the above-mentioned article, the only clear reason for such a decision was pressure on Google coming from the Canadian Securities and Exchange Commission. The representatives of Google also stated that they find the information on cryptocurrencies misleading and dangerous since it can push people into investing into scam projects and lose money.
Nevertheless, it is reasonable to think that Google might be developing a currency of its own, which justifies the fact of banning the news about the competitor coins.
Firstly, Google has recently started creating its own blockchain. The developers believe that the decentralization of the system will help to keep the databases with the information about transactions and operations safely and improve the security of cloud storages.
The representative of Google commented on this by saying:
“Like many new technologies, we have individuals in various teams exploring potential uses of blockchain but it’s way too early for us to speculate about any possible uses or plans.”
Secondly, the IT giant supposedly offered a job to Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum which also gave us an idea that Google might be up to something.
Anyway, none of the suspisions have been confirmed yet, so all we have left is to keep monitoring the situation and wait for some clarification from Google.
