The Czech aero technology company Zuri has developed a project of unmanned plane that can carry passenger traffic by air over a distance of 700 km. The project is being developed in collaboration with the travel agency Kiwi.com, as reports DailyOnline.
The wing span of this design will be 11 meters, weight – only 900 kilograms, and capacity – 4 people.
The UAV will use the technology of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), in which aircraft do not need large runways, which means this model will have huge advantages over competitors.
According to the authors of the project, the aircraft will be the ideal vehicle for a flight, for example, from island to island. Customers do not have to change from one type of transport to another: boat, cars, train.
Airbus and Boeing manufacturers are also working on developing artificial intelligence to control the aircraft.
Today, Zuri has, in fact, no competitors in this segment.
However, for many airlines, having two pilots in the cockpit is a must. This rule was established after the tragic incident in 2015, when the Germanwings pilot lost control, resulting in the death of 150 people.
Therefore, whether carriers, insurers, and passengers are prepared for the innovative type of flights and whether they are ready at all is still questionable.
