Apple said that they intend to significantly expand the program to encourage “white” hackers for vulnerabilities found in the operating systems macOS, tvOS, watchOS, as well as iCloud. This time, Apple decided not to skimp on rewards and promised payments up to $1 million for a successful attack without any user intervention.
It is worth noting that Apple introduced such a promotion policy three years ago, but it applied only to the iOS mobile operating system. But over the years, a number of researchers have insisted that the company review this program and Apple finally decided to do it.
An updated reward system should convince more security researchers to report vulnerabilities at Apple. But it is worth remarking that many experts in this field will still not want to inform Apple about the vulnerabilities found since most of these errors are much more profitable to sell on the black market.
