Bitcoin is about to surprise the cryptocurrency community once again with something sensational. Perhaps, the most interesting detail of this digital coin is the question of its authorship. However, we regret to inform you that the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains a secret.
Today we will talk about the key which few people have heard of until this time. It turned out that there exists a special key created by the Bitcoin founder and meant for security purposes. In case the assets of users are in danger, the key can flash a message on screens to warn them of upcoming danger.
Frankly speaking, a similar system functioned in the past. However, it stopped working some time in 2016, as many people believed it brought more confusion than actually protected users’ funds.
Right now there is also a wave of criticism aimed at this key. Most likely, a lot of people will try to use it for enrichment, not for protection. For example, it can be used to decrease the difficulty of mining process or the size transaction commissions.
Though the key was given to a couple of major cryptopersonalities by Satoshi himself, Brian Bishop, one of the developers of Bitcoin Core, is actually the one who is going to disclose the secret information. He commented on the situation by saying:
Satoshi alert key's signature of sha256("I am not CSW. Unlike me, he can't sign with the Bitcoin alert key.") -> 304402205d9ee1b1697ce3722b92a0931aae10fb76ab07a624d61b27ba5af39e85a1653d0220520ed2e30ed1c89e5c876a4e7e8f9b04a8b43c3a37b55623cae964b3938f779a https://t.co/JwpEEt2dHI

Some people view it as a blessing, others believe that this key will destroy Bitcoin. Anyway, the main thing now is to not let the key get into the hands of scammers.
