This year’s Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco, was abundant with juicy announcements, coming from Epic Games, Sony and Quantic Dream. The all-time favorite titles, namely “Heavy Rain”, “Detroit: Become Human”, “Beyond: Two Souls” will now be available not only for consoles, but also for desktop.
This was very exciting news for all the PC players. The games will first appear in the Epic Games Store, and later on, on other platforms, for example, Switch. The exact date of the release is unknown so far, but is expected sometime this year.
Although throughout the last couple of years the French video game studio Quantic Dream, which created all the abovementioned iconic titles, has been closely linked to Sony, since the PlayStation had an exclusive right to these games, time has come to expand and explore new horizons.
“We are so grateful for twelve fantastic years of collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment and all they have allowed us to create and produce. With this new partnership with Epic, we can now expand our products to a wider fan base and allow PC players to enjoy our titles,” said the representative of the studio.
One of the main reasons, the developers chose Epic Games Store over, for instance, Steam is the beneficial placement terms. Epic Games take only 12% of the game sales, which is quite low compared with other platforms.
According to the game creators, this will allow them to invest more money into their developments and release high-quality games.
The agreement between Epic Games and Quantic Dream will last for a year for each separate game, but in the future both companies might decide to extend the contract for a longer period of time.
