Pandemie im Bergbau

Recently it became known that mining malware attacks the computers of private users. To date, more than 100,000 users have already been infected with hardware.

Attackers set ''traps'' for their victims using websites that host free software, such as Softpedia. Fraudsters mislead site visitors and trick them into downloading fake desktop versions of services such as YouTube Music or Microsoft Translator, which allows scammers to create favorable conditions for cryptojacking.

Cryptojacking is a type of cyber attack in which hackers use the computing power of a device without the permission of the owner and use it to mine cryptocurrency.

After installing and running the desktop version, the malware launches a hidden process to mine the Monero (XMR) cryptocurrency using the processor.

As they say, “everything ingenious is simple”, but for its part, it advises to be careful and vigilant because, “free cheese, only in a mousetrap”.
