Three Latvians Are Accused Of Personal Data Theft: Suspects In Jail
Latvian law enforcement agencies have arrested three suspects in the case of buying confidential user data on the darknet.
From the information provided by the local police, the suspects gained access to user accounts on various crypto-exchanges and withdrew all funds from there. During the arrest, digital assets totaling 110 thousand euros were seized.
The cybercriminals laundered the stolen funds through the acquisition of real estate, cryptocurrencies, gold, and luxury goods.
The scale of the crime
The criminals have worked for five years, more than 1,000 people have become their victims. If their guilt is proven, they face imprisonment for between 3 and 12 years.
