Hacker hacked into Fei Protocol and Rari Capital and stole $80 million

The pool of Fei Protocol and Rari Capital was hacked by an unknown attacker who was able to steal $80 million by manipulating the blockchain. Project teams approached the hacker, offering him a reward of $10 million if he returned the stolen property. There was no answer.

The DEUS Finance DAO DeFi project hack, which we wrote about recently, was not the last one this week. On Saturday, a cyberattack on Fei Protocol and Rari Capital resulted in an even greater loss of funds, according to blockchain analytics firm BlockSec.

It is worth noting that BlockSec employees were the first to report the hack. The company tweeted about the discovery of a hack. After that, representatives of the Fei protocol confirmed the information, temporarily freezing lending in order not to give an opportunity to increase the damage.

According to BlockSec, a scammer stole Wrapped ETH. Then I brought them to the Tornado Cash mixer, which we also wrote about earlier. Thus, it is not worth hoping that the attacker will return the stolen funds.

Analysts note that the number of hacks and the amount of stolen funds in 2022 may exceed the figures for 2021. In the first quarter of this year, more than $1 billion was stolen, including the hacking of the blockchain of the crypto game Axie Infinity.
