The Decision of the European Parliament: Cryptocurrency May Be Used as Fiat Money
The subdivision of the European Parliament specializing in economic and financial affairs conducted a thorough research of the digital currency field and considered the way to implement cryptocurrency as a legal means of payment. According to the official report, digital coins “in some circumstances can be used as an alternative to money.”
The European politicians believe that the newly emerged sphere is both innovative and disruptive. Due to its decentralized nature, it is very hard to control, thus, these first steps of acceptance from the Parliament might lead to proper regulation of cryptocurrencies in the future.
