Opera Adds Support for Blockchain Cryptocurrency Tron
Opera browser will add support for decentralized applications created in the Tron (TRX) cryptocurrency blockchain. Moreover, it will be possible to store all tokens of the TRC standard in the built-in wallet. At the moment, Opera only works with the Ethereum (ETH) network, so the wallet is compatible with coins of ERC-20 standard. According to the director of a startup Tron Justin Sun, the integration of the TRX blockchain into Opera will help expand the client base, as the browser is used by about 300 million people.
Opera representatives commented on the news: "TRON is a popular, quickly developing blockchain with a swiftly growing dApp ecosystem. We are happy to open our browser to it”.
Opera management has not announced the exact launch date of Tron services. However, the company promised to add support for several blockchains during the year. The most probable candidate is the EOS network, which is showing steady growth. In February 2019, Opera introduced the feature to purchase the Ethereum cryptocurrency in the mobile version of the browser for the Android OS. This service can be used by citizens of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
