McAfee Labs Is Warning You About the Growing Amount of Malicious Cryptocurrency Software

The antivirus company McAfee Labs has published its regular threats report for the September of 2018. According to this report, the number of cryptocurrency mining malware threatening the users’ devices has grown drastically. As mentioned by the McAfee Labs specialists:

“Due to the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies, the blockchain revolution is in full swing. Cybercriminals have also found new angles including illegal coin mining and theft leading to profits.”

McAfee Labs managed to detect multiple fraud billings apps, virus-infected mining apps and harmful URLs. The crypto scammers have very much intensified their efforts in Q2 of 2018 to find vulnerabilities in different blockchain and crypto-related sites and files to knock them down and/or steal assets.
