Libra is crumbling: eBay, Visa, and MasterCard followed PayPal
Facebook Libra continues to lose support. PayPal was the first company to leave Libra. After a short period of time, several other members of the consortium followed PayPal. The project is literally “crumbling”, experts say.
Just recently, eBay representatives announced that the company decided to drop this initiative. They chose to focus on the development of payment solutions on their own platform.
“We highly respect the vision of the Libra Association; however, eBay has made the decision to not move forward as a founding member. At this time, we are focused on rolling out eBay’s managed payments experience for our customers.” – said in the company.
Recall that eBay was one of the first to express support for Libra. But as a result of financial regulators pressure, members of the consortium began to leave the project, PayPal became the first, next Visa and Mastercard made an announcement they are leaving, now it is time for eBay. The companies do not exclude the possibility to cooperate if the project shows success in the future.
