Bitfinex Confirmed the Transfer of $1 Billion in Bitcoins to a Hot Exchange Wallet
The unknown user who recently made a very large transaction on the Bitcoin network (123,447.7 BTC) turned out to be the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange. This was confirmed by Paolo Ardoino - the technical director of the platform, he said that this transaction was part of a plan to transfer 150 thousand bitcoins to the exchange’s hot wallet.
The above amount was sent to a special change address, which implies the impossibility of spending coins until the network is fully confirmed.

The address ranks second in terms of the number of BTC now, the wallet of the Huobi cryptocurrency exchange is still in the first place, at the time of this writing it contains 255 502 BTC (about $2.2 billion)
A Twitter user @Rhythmtrader noted:
“That's ~$1,100,000,000 transferred for an $80 fee. No government, bank or third party had to verify the transaction, nor could they have stopped it if they wanted to. The true power of bitcoin”.
The total number of coins transferred amounted to about 0.7% of the total issue of bitcoin at the moment.
