Tesla will be engaged in bitcoin mining

Elon Musk's company, in partnership with Block and Blockstream, will build a mining center for BTC mining. It will run on solar energy.

The facility will be built in Texas. The estimated cost is $12 million. Half of the funds will be allocated by Tesla, half by Block and Blockstream. A feature of the mining center will be a huge photovoltaic battery, the declared capacity of which will be 3.8 MW.

The energy it will generate will go into the Megapack battery produced by Tesla. The capacity of this plant is 12 MWh. The total mining power of the new data center will be 30 PH/s.

According to a Blockstream spokesperson, renewable energy mining will be proof that bitcoin block mining can be sustainable. Previously there was a lot of speculation on this topic, so 3 companies decided to get together and prove that it is possible.

Performance data (capacity and mined BTC) will be public. They will be displayed on the center's website from the very beginning of its work. Subsequently, the site will also display information on the efficiency of solar energy for mining and running storage.

The center will be built at the end of 2022. According to the results of his work, it is likely that it will also be supplemented with wind turbines after appropriate scaling.
